North Yorkshire Dales National Park

20 June 2016

I've been recently asked to renovate some signs for the North Yorkshire Dales National Park. I received them in a pretty poor state as can be seen from the image below but after a little TLC the finished sign looks great!

These are in order of...

  1. As it arrived
  2. Sandblasted down to its raw state
  3. Powder coated
  4. Hand-painted

Hand Painted for authenticity

10 May 2015

This is the latest handpainted sign lettered by hand by my daughter Hattie - she is currently studying graphic design at Newcastle University

A single-sided painted sign with a basket of fruit & veg needed for an allotment in York.

Traditional hand-painted signs are becoming very popular as they stand out from the more contemporary methods and offer a more warm and inviting feel. Give us a call to see what we can do for you.

I digitally printed the laminated  logo & use vinyl lettering as the customer required

These should last many year in all weather conditions

I have another happy customer !

NYCC "Supermobile" Library

17 October 2014

North Yorkshire County Council has recently purchased a new "Supermobile" library vehicle to replace the original vehicle which was launched in 2004. This new vehicle will provide an improved resource for the community, with both traditional library stock and a satellite enabled connection to public computers available at each of the locations which is visits. The competition was held for young people to submit their designs and we were asked to reproduce their ideas digitally onto the vehicle. These were digitally printed and laminated, also including vinyl lettering. The finished look was individual, vibrant and colourful allowing the children's ideas to come to life.

Latest signs for Thirsk racecourse

01 July 2014

I've just finished the last phase of sign work required for the new bars that have been renovated at the Racecourse here at Thirsk.

They are traditionally made & painted with flat cut letters adhered onto the painted sign, this causes a small shadow which gives a look of quality.

The acrylic Shrimp Bar sign is reverse printed on to 5mm clear acrylic & fixed with steel locators flat to a low entrance wall.

Hove Albion Football Club Banner

23 January 2014

Recently, I carried out some work for a local plastics company creating two 4m x 4m football logos onto a large area of banner material for Brighton & Hove Albion football club.

I had to use special screen-printing ink & had to make sure that the surface had to be kept dust free. These banners are being welded on to a large PVC cladded building at the Brighton & Hove Albion football ground.

Thirsk Racecourse

25 August 2012

Alpha Signs was recently asked to carry out work replacing the old racecourse signs here at Thirsk. We have supplied the racecourse with a variety of different signs from plastic, aluminium & hand-painted wood...

On the large roadside signs we used white-faced aluminium which isn't affected by weather & will look the same today as it will in 10 years. We fitted an aluminium channel to these to act as a slider system so the times & dates can be changed for each meeting.

In the paddock areas we fitted a number of traditional handpainted wooden signs fitted with wrought iron brackets...
